Vasse Felix ‘Adams Road’ Chardonnay 2007 Margaret River
Posted on September 7th, 2009 1 comment
I was looking for a wine to match a dish for a client’s hen’s party which is going to be at the beginning on October.
I approached a good friend of mine, Ryan Kempen, for some advice as he and his family are very knowledgeable when choosing bottle of wine to go with an evening meal.
I made my way down to Putney’s Majestic to see what I could find. The client requested an Australian wine as the bride to be is Australian.
I spent about 15min looking at the various wines, and eventually decided on a Vasse Felic Admas Road Chardonnay 2007.
Since Ryan helped me select the wine it would not be fair to drink it without him. So Ryan and his lovely wife, Sasha Kempen, invited me to dinner where we could really enjoy the wine and give our options about it.
Vasse Felix is located in Margaret River, in the South Western corner of Australia. Located on the 35 year old estate is the four-year-old state-of-the-art winery where Chardonnay is produced. Packed with ripe tropical fruits, combined with a well-balanced acidity, this is a Chardonnay not to be missed, and will go so well with my dish.
Once again thanks to Ryan and Sasha Kempen for a great wine tasting evening.

Gerard Bertrand Aigle Noir Pinot Noir 2007

I was on twitter recently and I saw that Ken Forester has updated his website., I’m a huge fan of his wines, especially his FMC which I have a few bottles of in my so called “wine cellar” in South Africa. I know you can get it here in the UK from Waitrose, so if you are interested have a look at Waitrose wine on line.
The wine I am going to talk about was recommend by Thierry who’s company brings in the FMC to the UK. I have spoken more about white wines in the past so this time I wanted to do a red.
The red that I have been drinking is a really lovely Gerard Bertrand Aigle Noir Pinot Noir 2007.
This wine is made from 100% Pinot Noir grapes grown in the warm sun of Southern France, located just above Limoux. This Pinot Noir is rich in red fruit flavours such as strawberry and raspberry. Its smooth complexity is heightened by hints of spice and oak.
Drink this with minted lamb or even roasted game, but what I like about it is I bought it from Marks & Spencer’s for only £7.99, which is a great price for a great Pinot Noir.
Enjoy

Villa Maria Reserve Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2008

I was on my way to a large wine shop in South West London looking for a particular wine, and on my way there I passed the Wine Rack.So I thought I would just have a look to see what they had.
I picked up a bottle of Villa Maria Reserve, Wairau Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2008, but I was really looking for the Villa Maria Clifford Bay Sauvignon Blanc that a friend of mine, Steve Kempen had mentioned.
This is a lovely Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand’s Wairau Valley.
On the nose expect notes of passion fruit and melon which both follow through onto the tongue. It also has a distinctive New Zealand gooseberry flavour.
This wine is crisp and very clear – perfect for shellfish or smoked salmon, and perfect for hot summer days. I paid about £12 for this lovely bottle from the Wine Rack, and I do suggest you try a bottle…or two.
Enjoy
